“In these strange times, every day should have a Paul Cookson moment – keep him by your bedside for emergencies.” Simon Mayo
When the pandemic started, poet Paul Cookson began to write a poem a day, little thinking that before it ended he would have written a thousand. Volumes One and Two from Flapjack Press contains Paul's compassionate, societal and humorous documentation of the UK's wellbeing and resolve. With cover art and illustrations by long-time collaborator, Martin Chatterton, these volumes represent an extraordinary collection for truly extraordinary times.
Paul Cookson is a National Reading Hero award-winner, Poet in Residence for The National Football Museum and Everton in the Community, Writer in Residence for Sing Together, and a frequent guest on BBC and Talk Radio. Rock legends Slade have proclaimed him their very own Poet Laureate, and with the band’s Don Powell and Les Glover he is now a songwriter and performer with the Occasional Flames, with Martin Chatterton in situ as the resident art director and designer.
